Ten Essentials for your handbag when your a powerchair/wheelchair user!

Ten essentials for your handbag when your a powerchair user!

Believe it or not these have all happened to me!

1. An allen key and a screwdriver for when you have a screw loose!...(or at least your wheelchair does!)

2. Gaffer tape -in case electrical parts fall off!

3. WD 40 for when your wheelchair starts making strange noises or the bus /taxi you are gettiing on has a rusty ramp.

4. Mobile phone - for when you get stuck on some random bit of pavement where there is a dip or your trusty chair has broken down so you can call for assistance. Or if you get stuck in the toilet because random high chairs that shouldn't be in their have collapsed on you and you can't get to the help piece of string because people have tied it up!

5. A good book/or handheld console for when your waiting to be rescued when the chair has broken down whiles away the boredom and takes your mind of your bladders need to be empted !

6. A good rain mac - essential in case you get stranded by your trusty machine in the rain shame I can't read a book then.. unless I am lucky and get stranded under a shelter which almost never happens!

7. Spare fuses for if your fuse blows - also diagrams to show people how to change the fuse on your chair as you can't get to it !

8. A drink in case the trusty chair breaks down before you take your meds perferably wine but sensibly water especially if it is during the day!

9. A book of witty responses to take the edge of when people repeatedly comment on your speed/whether you can drink alcohol or have sex/children. Yes I can have children thank you very much! and Yes I can look after them !

10. A pocket mirror - to help with reversing especially when you are getting on a bus also good for checking hair on windy days.

Hmm maybe I need a bigger handbag!
